Jee Main Or Neet 2023: When Preparing Chemistry Don't Forget These Topics From Ncert

No doubt many students find chemistry an easy subject. It is also a rank decider subject in the examination because the questions asked in this subject are theoretical and easy to solve numerical in comparison to the other two subjects Physics and Math.

Chemistry is a common subject in both JEE Main and NEET. There is nothing separate strategy you need to prepare for this section. The best strategy to prepare for the subject is to solve all the previous year's questions asked in the examination. Students can solve NEET previous year's papers to get a good score in the examination.

The questions asked in the JEE Main and NEET examinations are predominantly from NCERT. By analyzing the previous year's papers we found that most of the questions asked from the line of NCERT. So it is better to follow NCERT rather than following different advanced books available in the market.

Although it is an easy section but vast too. Students often get confused about where they should start. To make you gap shorter, between you and the selection we are provided you with the most important topics that have been cynosure(center of attraction) to the examination. So let us dive into the topic.

Important Topics In Chemistry For JEE Main

Physical Chemistry

This section consists mostly of numerical and formula-based questions. This section has limited chapters and topics so it is important to cover all the topics from this section. According to the new examination pattern, almost 5-6 questions have been asked in the examination in which 2 questions are theoretical and the remaining questions are numerically based.

Although we have highlighted the important topics of the physical chemistry below.

Mole Concept

  • It is one of the most important topics in the physical chemistry section. Most of the questions have been asked on this topic.  So Understand the concepts carefully and ace this chapter.

Atomic Structure

This is also one of the most important and easy topics in Physical chemistry. Most of the questions are numerical from this topic.

Organic Chemistry

This is the most important section of chemistry subject. Most of the questions asked in the examination are from this section. If you have good commands over the general reaction, types of reaction, acid, base, nucleophiles, etc. then you get a 100 percent score in this section.

  • Nomenclature

This is one of the topics that I would like to solve very much. It is very easy to learn and can be done in a matter of a few seconds. At least 2-3 questions are asked in the JEE Main examination.

  • Types of Reaction

This is another most important topic in organic chemistry. The weightage of this topic is much higher than the other topics. Questions asked about this topic are moderate but if you are good at learning the reaction then you can fetch maximum marks from this topic.

  • Organic Synthesis

Almost 3 to 4 questions are made on this topic. This is not a single topic but blended with different important subtopics of organic chemistry. The question generally ask in this section is to determine the final product of the reaction or missing details asked in the question.

Inorganic chemistry

The questions asked in this section are completely theory-based. You can only refer to NCERT to prepare this section. The NCERT is enough to prepare this section. Most of the questions in this section are asked directly from the NCERT.

S & P Block Elements

At least 1 to 2 questions are asked on this topic. Questions are based on the reaction and behavior of s and p block.

  • Periodic Table

The questions are asked on this topic to check the basic knowledge of the periodic table of the student.

  • Chemical Bonding

This is one of the most important topics for the whole chemistry unit. These sections often confused students and most students find this topic difficult to solve. The best way to prepare this section is first to understand the concept from the NCERT and then solve questions asked in the previous year's paper.

Important Topics In Chemistry For NEET

All the topics discussed above are equally important for the NEET exam. Apart from it, we are also provided the most important topics in chemistry that you should go through first.

  • Equilibrium

  • P-block elements

  • Hydrocarbons

  • D & F block elements

  • Coordination Compounds

  • Chemical Bonding and Molecular structure

  • Electrochemistry
